Field slaves

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The field slave is a slave that worked in the fields of a plantation of the southern states of America. The slaves were greatly mistreated and uncared for by there owners. These slaves where put out to work from dawn to dusk every day.Except for when harvest was around. Then they had to work 18 hour days. Field slaves had to pick atleast 200 pounds of cotton each day or else they were in trouble. They were at the bottom of the classes of slaves. These slaves only had one meal a day and they often died of hunger. They did all of the agricultural part of the plantation life. They often were often forced to have more slaves on the plantations. When a woman was pregnant she was expected to work until the baby was born and then after that she had to carry the baby on her back while she was working. --Hotporsche911 21:07, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
